Bux-Mont Human Resources Association, a nonprofit group, is committed to helping Human Resources professionals fulfill their varied responsibilities by providing our members with opportunities to network with their peers, exchange knowledge and experiences, and learn about current Human Resources issues at seminars and regular monthly meetings. Because our programs benefit not only HR people, but company supervisors, managers, and team members as well, companies (not individuals) are the members in Bux-Mont HR Association. Most designated company representatives are members of the company's HR department, and these professionals attend the regular meetings. Our education programs address needs of all managers within the organization.
Our group began in the early 1980's when a few "Personnel" professionals from local manufacturing companies gathered together for lunch. The group grew in professionalism and membership size, with accelerated growth over the last five to ten years. Although the majority of member companies do business in Bucks and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania, membership is not limited to this geographical area. Member companies no longer represent only the manufacturing sector. Today, the organization's membership includes the areas of banking, health care, insurance, pharmaceutical, food, transportation, service and more.
Our members are companies with at least one employee who devotes more than 50% of his or her time to bonafide Human Resources functions within the organization. We meet monthly, usually in the morning. Our roundtables and morning presentations generally conclude by 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. We also provide half-day and full-day seminars at reasonable rates. Some of our programs are open to nonmembers at higher rates.
The association fees are reasonable: currently only $135 per year, which is pro-rated for members joining after the beginning of the year. Regular meetings generally cost $25 per person, which includes a meal, roundtable discussion, and/or learning opportunities from speakers. Half-day and full-day programs are also held at very reasonable rates. Member representatives are encouraged to bring managers and supervisors from their organizations to meetings and seminars. Some programs are designed specifically for supervisors! And, many of our programs provide credits toward educational requirements for those individuals with either a PHR or SPHR certification.
